Basal cell carcinoma masquerading as mucocele

Orbita -> Tumores -> Malignant
A 35-year-old caucasian woman had a medical history that included dyslipidemia, obesity and migraines. She complained of tearing and pain in his left eye for one year. The clinical examination showed a firm, painful swelling at the left medial canthus (figure 1); the patient had no diplopia, no history of trauma, no epistaxis, and no blood-stained eye discharge. His vision was normal, and the eye movements were preserved bilaterally. The patient was treated with antibiotics and steroids, but the symptoms did not improve. The patient was remited to our hospital where we suspected mucocele and we extirpate the lesion. As it should be done, specimen was remitted to histological analysis, which was informed as a basocellular epithelioma, with clear margins.
