Persistant Primary Hyperplastic Vitreous (PHPV)

Persistant Primary Hyperplastic Vitreous (PHPV)
Dense retrolental fibrous plaque with some vessels originating from the persisting hyalid artery is pulling the elongated ciliary processes visible in Mydriasis. This is pathognomonic and facilitates the clinical differential diagnosis from suspected retinoblastoma. Both conditions produce a white pupil (leucocoria). The posterior parts of the lens often show cataractous changes.
