Pharmacologic Mydriasis

Pharmacologic Mydriasis
Top: The left pupil appears widely dilated. It failed to constrict in response to light or to fixation of a near target. The eyelids and eye movements were normal. Bottom: After instillation of Pilocarpine 1%, the left pupil remains dilated. Pharmacologic mydriasis is characterized by rather dramatic pupillary dilation, normal eyelid and ocular motor function, and a minimal or absent response to strong miotic agents.
