Morning Glory Disc Anomaly

Morning Glory Disc Anomaly
This congenital, usually unilateral, anomaly shows a significantly larger optic nerve than macrodiscs and optic nerve pits. Excavation of optic nerve head with centrally located whitish tissue and surrounding subretinal pigmentation. The vessels seem to enter at the margin of the nerve head, resembling cilioretinal vessels. Vision in the usually myopic eye is decreased. Retinal detachment develops frequently, presumably from tiny defects in the retina at the disc.
