Glaucomatous optic nerve atrophy in craniopharyngeoma.
12 years old boy, IOP always lower 20 mmHg, VA 0.9/0.8. IOP RA nc 23 mm Hg, LA nc 21 mm Hg.
Young patient has a cystic craniopharygeoma, which was treated several times by cerebral surgeries and x-ray radiation.
Case presenting several image modalities of right and left eye:
(1) MR showing polycystic craniopharyngeoma with intra- and suprasellar cysts,
(2) Colour images giving glaucomatous optic neuropathy (L>R) characterized by a typical appearance of the optic nerve head including loss of neuroretinal rim, deepening of the optic cup, and a diffuse retinal nerve fibre layer loss,
(3) w-w-perimetry showing a complete hemifield defect at left eye,
(4) OCT indicating a strong decrease in retinal nerve fiber thickness down to 35 µm in left eye.
