Symmetric Infarcts of the Tractus Opticus with Symmetric Visual Field Defects (MRI, w-w-Perimetry)

Brain and Optical Pathway
The symmetric, homonymeous visual field defects in the inferior areas of both eyes are caused by ischemic infarcts in the optical tract. These infarcts produced the visible optic nerve atrophy in both eyes. The ischemic infarcts in the area of the right medial cerebral artery impair the visual pathway as the tractus opticus and the optic radiation both are nourished by the medial cerebral artery and posterior cerebral artery.
