Normal Tension Glaucoma with Generalized Cerebral Microangiopathy

Brain and Optical Pathway
Female, 81 years, arterial hypotension Diagnosis: OD/OS severe NTG-based optic atrophy, macular drusinosis, incipient cortical cataract Best corrected visual acuity: OD 0.10 OS 0.32 IOP: OD 9 mmHg OS 10 mmHg Assessment: Severe normal tension glaucoma of both eyes is present. Neither WMLs were found directly in the optic radiations, nor any cerebral infarction. By reason of the high-graded cerebral microangiopathy an impairment of the microcirculation may not be excluded, which influences indirectly the visual pathway (particularly the posterior parts of both 4th neurons) and thereby, the visual field.
