Idiopathic Macular Telangiectasia (MacTel) Type 1 (Colour image, FA, OCT)

59 years, male, since 3 weeks decrease of VA of left eye, no general disease, VA RA cc = 1.0, LA cc = 0.6, IOP R/L 12 mm Hg Idiopathic macular telangiectasia is a vascular anomaly affecting retinal capillaries in the juxtafoveal region. According to Yannuzzi et al, idiopathic macular telangiectasia is classified into 2 main categories. Type 1 (aneurysmal telangiectasia) is a predominantly unilateral disease affecting mostly men, associated clinically with retinal thickening, prominent extensive telangiectasis, lipid exudates, and cystoid changes, mainly in the temporal part of the macula. Type 2 (perifoveal telangiectasia) is a bilateral disease that affects both sexes, starting in the 5th to 7th decades.
