Cancer Associated Retinopathy (CAR)

Cancer Associated Retinopathy (CAR)
In the macular area, especially temporlly slight depigmentation is found. This is thought to be a (autoimmune) degeneration of the retina in the presence of a malignant tumor, mostly lung cancer, without invasion of the eye. Progressive visual loss is caused by spotty loss of photoreceptors and disruption of the corresponding pigment epithelium.
