Junctional Field Loss

Junctional Field Loss
The classic junctional syndrome consists of an optic neuropathy in one eye and a superotemporal field cut in the fellow eye. The patient whose visual field is shown here reported progressive visual loss in his left eye and was found to have reduced acuity, an afferent pupillary defect, and optic disc pallor in that eye. The Goldmann visual field demonstrates a large, dense central defect in the left eye associated with marked loss of sensitivity in the residual portions of the field. Interestingly, in the asymptomatic right eye, the field shows a superotemporal defect that substantially respects the vertical meridian.
