Junctional Field Loss

Junctional Field Loss
Junctional defects typically result from compressive lesions involving the junction between one optic nerve and the optic chiasm. This coronal MRI image shows a massive intracranial tumor that completely fills both the sella and the suprasellar cistern and extends laterally into the cavernous sinuses. One can appreciate the stretched and compressed chiasm lying across the top of the tumor.
