Shield Ulcer of the Cornea in Vernal conjunctivitis
The cornea may be affected as well in vernal conjunctivitis. An indolent superficial ulcer develops with opaque edges and plaque formation through deposition of mucus and cells. Here one sees a partially healed shield ulcer with ring-like superficial opacification and some remaining debris.
