Nevus Flammeus and Buphthalmus

Nevus Flammeus and Buphthalmus
A nevus flammeus (easily overlooked in darker skinned individuals) is seen on the right side of the face in the distribution area of the trigeminus nerve. The right eye is exotropic and has an enlarged cornea as an indication of congenital glaucoma with resulting blindness. This combination, nevus with glaucoma, occurs in about 30% of the patients. When combined with an angioma of the choroid and meningeal calcification this is the Sturge-Weber syndrome.
