Silicone oil in subconjunctival space

Silicone oil in subconjunctival space
This patient had trans-pars plana vitrectomy 2 months ago with silicone oil temponade for rhegmatogenous retinal detachment. Subconjunctival deposition of silicone oil noted during post operative follow up. Silicone oil is non-toxic, but occasionally may incite chronic inflammation with the formation of subconjunctival cysts and silicone oil granuloma.
