Nasal Mucosa Transplant #1, after Alkali Burn
Because of symblepharon formation and sicca syndrome nasal mucosa was transplanted into the conjunctiva (see hemorrhagic part of the conjunctiva). Nasal mucosa contains an abundance of mucus producing cells in contrast to oral mucosa. Status post lamellar corneal transplant.
