Fleischer ring in case of Keratoconus

Fleischer ring in case of Keratoconus
Iron can be deposited in the corneal epithelium in several conditions. It is probably derived from the tear film and occurs at the junction of abnormalities in the tear film distribution. Histopathologically, the iron is located predominantly in the basal epithelial layers although may also be present in superficial epithelial wing cells. Such circular iron deposition seen around the base of the cone in keratoconus called as fleischer ring.
