Optic neuritis, Optic Atrophy

Optic neuritis, Optic Atrophy
Optic disc pallor (i.e., optic atrophy) eventually supervenes in most patients who experience an episode of optic neuritis. Pallor first becomes evident four to six weeks after the onset of visual loss - a time when vision is actually improving. The temporal aspect of the disc is preferentially involved. Note that marked disc pallor, as in the case shown here, is not incompatible with a favorable visual outcome.
