In each eye, a defect extends horizontally from the physiologic blind spot (“cecum”) to involve fixation. This is termed a ceco-central scotoma. Bilateral symmetric ceco-central defects are characteristic of toxic, nutritional and hereditary optic neuropathies. This patient had ethambutol optic neuropathy. | |
