Persistant Primary Hyperplastic Vitreous (PHPV), Pathology Specimen
A longitudinal section through the eye reveals the vascular stalk emanating from the disc and extending through the vitreous to the backside of the lens ultimately covering the back-surface of the lens. Note also the shallow anterior chamber and the enlarged lens.
