Regular Cataract-Surgery_Phacoemulsification (Phaco)
Regular Cataract-Surgery_Phacoemulsification (Phaco): A machine with an ultrasonic handpiece was used. With a tip vibration frequency of 40,000 Hz the lens material was emulsified. The second instrument ("cracker" or "chopper") was used from the right side port to facilitate cracking the nucleus into smaller pieces. The fragmentation into smaller pieces made emulsification easier, as well as the aspiration of cortical material.
